Security Industry Trends

Magenta Security Services surveyed a large number of businesses and the results show that the security industry is the juiciest place to be right now. 42% of respondents spend a respectable 10% of their budgets on security whilst 12% of respondents spend between 50% and 75% of their facilities budget on security – mostly security guards to guard against theft and vandalism. So if you’re in the security industry, now seems to be the time to cash in!

Fire Security in China

At the fifth meeting of the Standing Committee of the Eleventh National People’s Congress, fire security laws were brought into question and amendments were made to China’s fire laws. The amendments came into force in the middle of 2009 and so industry experts predict that 2010 will see a boom in fire security systems in China.

IMS Research predicts that by 2014, the fire safety industry in China will be worth over $1 billion (approx. £671 million) to the security industry. Things are heating up in China it seems!

Social Networking Upbraided

Facebook has been accused of massively failing to protect its members after Ashleigh Hall aged 17, was found murdered in County Durham. Ashleigh was lured to meet her murderer via popular social networking site Facebook and met her death towards the end of last year.

Facebook and MySpace have been soundly criticised by the Lib Dems after both organisations failed to join the Home Office’s Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre which would add a button to each page of the websites, a panic button hat would offer social networking safety advice. Let’s hope that Facebook listens this time.

Pinsfield Choose ACT

Financial firm Pinfields in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, recently moved premises to a larger building which prompted a security review. For cost-effectiveness and water-tight security combined, Pinsfield management decided to invest in the innovative MOBOTIX IP Surveillance camera and door entry and access control system from Access Control Technology (ACT).

Maidstone Borough Council in Kent has turned to CBC’s Ganz C-Allview PTZ CCTV domes to cut down on car thefts from its park and ride facilities. By creating safer car park facilities for visitors, Maidstone Borough Council has ensured that more people use the car parks, meaning less impact upon the environment in Kent and less traffic issues.

The Ganz C-Allview PTZ CCTV domes are vandal-resistant and are specifically created to weather the environment and work in rugged conditions. As far as Maidstone Borough Council are concerned, a fantastic investment.
