A little bit of common sense at last, or so it seems anyway. Home Secretary Theresa May has scrapped the ridiculous police target regime that was set into place by the Labour government. So now more targets for our security officers and boys in blue.
Theresa May has promised to lift the burden of red tape from police work so that police can concentrate on ‘front line’ defence instead. Which would be extremely good news for the most part. However, with the new budget cuts coming into play, this may be too little too late.
Sir Hugh Orde, president of the Association of Chief Police Officers, has said that the severe cuts in the police budget will stop officers from truly making a difference and he expects a public outcry once they realise the extent of the cuts.
