Possible plans to cut the police budget by 25% could be a ‘Christmas for criminals’ said the Police Federation. Although plans are not concrete, some police forces have already seen huge cuts and the expected 25% budget cuts could devastate the UK.

If these budget cuts go ahead, this will see a quarter of the force disappear – around 40,000 front-line police jobs which are vital to giving our streets a modicum of safety.

The Policing and Criminal Justice Minister Nick Herbert has accused the Police Federation of scaremongering, saying that nothing is concrete yet. If the cuts do happen though, we’re going to need an awful lot of security guards then!
