Sergeant Mark Andrews, an ex-soldier, has been found guilty of assaulting Miss Pamela Somerville and causing actual bodily harm after a five-day trial at Oxford magistrates’ court. Andrews is due to be sentenced and could spend time in prison as well as lose his job.

Andrews was caught on CCTV dragging Somerville across the floor before throwing her headfirst into a cell. The CCTV images show Somerville lying unconscious on the cell floor before coming to – then images can be seen of blood splatters on the floor from a gaping wound on Somerville’s forehead.

Somerville was arrested for sleeping in her car on a lay-by. Apparently she had argued with her partner and refused an alcohol breath test. These charges were later dropped.
