As sad as it seems to admit it, society has come to the point where the healers we turn to in times of need are no longer safe…from us. In an all-out bid to reduce escalating violence against staff, security guards at three Humber hospitals are to be fitted with shoulder-mounted cameras.

Grimsby’s Princess of Wales hospital, Goole hospital and Scunthorpe General are to be the first hospitals with the body camera technology. Head of Security Jug Johal says that he hopes the body cameras will work to prevent violence in the hospitals – and if not, they will be invaluable in securing convictions. Let’s hope so.
