After the recent announcement of the UK’s first prosecution under the Corporate Manslaughter Act, security guard companies need to be more careful than ever. Security guard companies are supposed to minimise risks and create a safe environment yet with some companies cutting costs and becoming negligent, accidents can and do happen. Things such as unsafe working conditions or working constant long shifts can lead to accidents and companies can face prosecution because of that. The new Corporate Manslaughter Act makes it exceedingly easy to initiate a suit against a company as the whole is blamed rather than the individual. Security companies need to get the message that they have both a legal and a moral obligation to look after their staff.
