According to the Unofficial Apple Blog TUAW, Apple and Visa are to pilot a new scheme that could see customers paying for goods and services with their iPhones. According to the blog, an iPhone application along with a secure memory chip and a special iPhone case would together provide an iPhone with the ability to pay for services by being held over a wireless scanner. However, Apple needs to be careful – iPhones are already a target for thieves, so if new iPhone cases are produced that work as bank cards, any distinguishing marks will make them ten times as likely to be a target. IT security aside, keeping the iPhone away from thieves could be a major concern!
