Fraud is a massive problem in the technology industry right now – if it isn’t retail security providing an opening for credit card fraud then it’s some other kind of fraud. A popular one is software piracy, which is a growing industry. Last year, software piracy grew again, taking the total cost to technology companies to $50 billion (around £34 billion). Asia was the worst region for software piracy, with just under a third of software piracy happening there. The rise in technology has been blamed for the rise in software piracy and the recession can’t have helped much either!
