Retailers around the cluster of retail outlets at Abbeygate in Grimsby are fighting back against crime – and winning. With help from the local police force, the North East Lincolnshire Council’s Safer and Stronger Communities and the Small Retailers Capital Grant Funding, retailers in Grimsby town centre can once again feel safe doing business.

The grant that the retailers received has enabled them to use SelectaDNA kits. SelectaDNA marks valuable products with an adhesive, UV traceable, unique DNA tag, allowing police to identify and return recovered stolen items. The grant has also allowed the retailers to invest in CCTV coverage which works to prevent and prosecute crime and also electronic alert boxes which connects all of the retailers with each other. Safety in numbers!
