How safe is your Smartphone? Do you access a corporate network? Or do you use your phone to purchase goods from the internet? Both of these actions are a serious security concern if you lose your phone, but what if you never do?

A recent Enterprise Networking Plant report has shown that it’s a relatively simple task to hijack both iPhone and Android based systems from anywhere in the world. To complete the hijack, the hijacker only needs to get the user to reconfigure their device to send its mobile data through an “evil proxy” controlled by the hacker.

This is a relatively simple task as anyone can create a valid portable configuration file and set it to activate via SMS.

Luckily the latest version of the iPhone operating system OS4 won’t allow for the installation of a profile if the current profile is not uninstalled first. If the existing profile is locked, problem solved.
