Olympic Security Statement
By Chris Key - Thursday, 12th July 2012
Planning and delivering the security services required for the Olympics is a massive and complex task for any organisation to take on. Nonetheless, this news has not come as a surprise to us or other companies within the security industry. With extensive planning and collaboration within our industry, this disaster could have been avoided. G4S have already seen the huge commercial benefits of the exclusive contract they were awarded by LOCOG (London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games) and it is frustrating for smaller successful companies, like Churchill, to miss out on the London Olympics opportunity altogether.
For 15 years Churchill Security have been established within the industry and in this time we have provided exceptional security solutions nationwide. In recognition of our excellent services and our innovative approach to training and development, we have been ranked in the top 5% of ACS Security Companies in the UK, awarded with the Investors in People accreditation and stand strong as an SIA Approved Contractor. With this in mind we could have easily provided a significant contribution in licensed and trained security personnel to assist with the safeguarding of the Olympics. Had there been a collaboration with other companies similar to us, we could have ensured collectively that a high level security initiative is delivered without putting additional strain on the Ministry of Defence, especially with only 15 days until the Olympic opening ceremony.
This way the industry as a whole and the wider economy would have benefited from the Games whilst effectively supporting the security infrastructure.
