The oil spill recovery in the Gulf of Mexico, otherwise known as the Deepwater Horizon oil rig disaster, has been a bit of a shambles if truth be told. The bosses of the oil company should really have planned ahead for an oil disaster eventually – then, in that event security could have taken over and maybe the wide scale of the disaster could have been avoided. What has really jinxed the recovery effort though, is the CEO of BP, Tony Hayward.
BP investors aren’t daft though – after public reactions to the incompetence of Tony Hayward and the stupidity of remarks such as ‘I would like my life back,’ BP has wisely taken control of the recovery operation off him. Now, the former boss of TNK-BP, Bob Dudley, is in charge of the clean up operation. Let’s hope he does a better job!
