Last year Twitter suffered an unfortunate hacking incident where user’s accounts were compromised. The hackers gained access to emails and private information, were able to reset passwords and gain access to private messages. Because of this, the Federal Trade Commission took action.
The privacy policy of Twitter states that it “employ[s] administrative, physical, and electronic measures designed to protect your information from unauthorised access,” which would be all well and good if it was true. Unfortunately, Twitter data security had been compromised and so now, Twitter has agreed to a ban by the FTC which prevents it from misleading users about IT security.
