Symantec Corp. is investing in the growing trend that is seeing data security become the focus of the security industry. As security threats evolve, internet and network security issues are coming to the fore, more so than physical security that would require security guards and CCTV – but I digress. To get back to Symantec, the company has just announced that it is to buy two private encryption companies for a grand total of $370 million (around £241.3 million).
The two companies are PGP Corp. and GuardianEdge, email and data encryption specialists. Symantec is already big news in data and IT security so with these new acquisitions, it should become a formidable force against cyber crime.
