In a blow to the IT security industry, the Metropolitan Police have just announced that its Police Central eCrime Unit (PCeU) department will be suffering a budget cut because of the huge national debt.
The Police Central eCrime Unit (PCeU) was due to receive an extra £1 million of funding next year, bringing the budget to £3.5 million. This was proposed due to the rapidly increasing cybercrime levels and sophistication. However, as disaster looms, the Police Central eCrime Unit (PCeU) has been one of the first to suffer from budget cuts. So next year will see the IT security budget remain the same.
