Alistair Peckover, a 21 year old hacker from London Road, Hailsham has been found guilty of two counts of fraud and other minor offences and is to serve 20 months in prison.
The 21 year old loner had targeted internet betting sites as well as hacking into email accounts. Finding holes in their IT security(which are no longer there), Peckover also exploited Google and BT.
Peckover wrote scripts that allowed him to remotely view other people’s computers. After accessing the computers he could retrieve email account details and passwords which were then used to enter the email accounts and steal bank details. According to police reports, Peckover used the stolen cash to fund his gambling habit.
Once police cornered Peckover, they confiscated a Porsche, computer consoles, £40,000 in cash and £30,000 in gold bullion. Crime did pay for Peckover then – at least for a short while.
