Federal authorities are launching both criminal and civil investigations into BP and the Deepwater Horizon oil rig disaster. Just over a month ago, security systems aboard the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico failed and the oil rig sank, killing five workers as well as damaging the oil pipe. Thousands upon thousands of gallons of oil have since been pumped into the Gulf of Mexico.

The most recent attempt to plug the oil leak, named operation ‘Top Kill’ has failed and since then, BP shares have dropped rapidly and public anger has grown. Let’s hope they stop the leak soon.
