Durham Police have launched a new scheme to help tackle crime on business parks in the area. Named the Durham Business Watch, it includes business parks in Newton Aycliffe, Shildon, Sedgefield, Chilton, Ferryhill and Spennymoor.

The new scheme was launched yesterday and membership currently stands at 167 businesses. At the minute, rather than CCTV or security officers, the initiative will focus on awareness and high visibility as a form of prevention.

The business parks will also see the introduction of high-profile signs with the Durham Constabulary telephone number on them.
