David Cameron flew back to London last night as anarchy broke out across the UK. Police and firefighters struggled to control riots as a mob of hooded youths attacked officers, smashed shop windows looting everything from plasma TV’s to the clothes off people’s backs. Buildings and businesses were set on fire as people tried to escape jumping out of windows into the arms of firefighters whilst vigilantes were forced to defend stores as yobs seized the streets.

The violence which began in Hackney around 4pm was supposedly motivated by the death of Mark Duggan who lost his life in a police operation last Thursday.

The mobs began hurling missiles at officers and setting fire to bins and cars and within hours chaos had spread across the capital before copycat disturbances in Birmingham, Bristol and Liverpool erupted.

The lawlessness behavior has emphasized the fact that your business can come under attack to thieves and violence at any moment. So if you feel your business or property needs extra security measures from anything to surveillence to security guards then turn to Churchill Security to guarantee your peace of mind.

The sections of cable which were stolen from Byfleet in Surrey left 4000 lines affected and many people in the area without phones as well as broadband.

The theft of copper cable is becoming an increasing problem for British Telecom and this incident is just the latest in a spate of the crimes recently.

A village in Lincolnshire was targeted as thieves stole cable in three separate attacks in a fortnight causing repeated problems for locals. Meanwhile a village in Somerset has also had cables stolen three times in two months.

In January, police launched a special task force to tackle the problem as thefts rose in line with the rise in the cost of copper. Stolen cable is thought to be costing the UK £770m a year and Network Rail, who are also affected, are said to be coding their cables in an attempt to deter thieves.

To deter theives from your property and ensure you have only the best when it comes to security with everything from CCTV, Alarmed Response or Security Guards turn to Churchill Security.

An inmate who secretly filmed life in an English prison has highlighted several serious security lapses with the likes of drug dealing caught on tape as he broke the banned mobile phone rule by using his to capture footage of illegal activity.

Michael Long who bought the mobile from a corrupt prison warden for £350 secretly filmed his daily activities for several weeks before emailing his tapes to Sky News. Scenes and photos demonstrated how easy it was for inmates to get their hands on drugs, showing a lack of concern for the training and rehabilitation process. He even managed to film himself undergoing three security checks without his phone getting discovered.

In a proactive statement, Long wanted to raise awareness of the lack of rehab facilities for offenders in Bullingdon.

“Where’s the rehabilitation? There’s no training courses in this prison. I’ve been here a year, and all I’ve done is lie in bed.

“I need to be trained. I need to have some skills, so when I come out I can get a job. I don’t want to go back to crime, but they’re not teaching me anything in here.”

Long’s phone was finally seized 11 months after he first got it.

Last night the protests against the rise in University tuition fees turned violent in London.

Windows were smashed; fires were lit in the streets, while some protestors managed to break into buildings and fire missiles from rooftops! Hundreds of workers including Tory Party staff were evacuated by security services, in fear of their lives.

David Cameron expressed outrage at the violence, which led to 51 arrests and 14 injuries, arguing it was “unacceptable” behaviour. Seven police officers trying to control the protestors outside the Conservative Party headquarters in Westminster were hurt.

Security Officers have now been placed on high alert and CCTV surveillance is monitoring the streets for any potential outbursts by protestors. Mr Cameron, who is in Seoul for the G20 summit meeting, said the situation had been “extremely serious” and will hold an inquiry.

The students and lecturers were protesting against the higher tuition fees and plans to cut education by 40% and to wipe out teaching grants except for science and maths. However, the protests that were meant to override new government plans have backfired, and have been viewed as a disgrace by government members due to outbreaks of violence. Watch here for Sky News clip

The controversial Waterboarding is a form of torture that consists of immobilizing the subject on his/her back with the head inclined downwards. Water will then be poured over the victims face into air passage canals, similar to the experience of drowning. It can be extremely painful, as the victim “dry” drowns, causing damage to the lungs and brain through oxygen deprivation. Some victims have even experienced broken bones due to struggling, psychological damage and at worst, death.

However, President George W. Bush argues that this stimulated drowning technique has helped save millions of lives. The Waterboarding technique helped break terrorist attacks on Heathrow Airport and Canary Wharf.

There is a debate about how far security surveillance services should go, to help protect a country. Should one person suffer to save the lives of millions? Or allow peaceful methods to soak out information, which have been tried, tested, and ultimately failed.

According to the BBC on reports by Bush “Mohammed was one of three al Qaeda suspects subjected to waterboarding, alongside Saudi Arabia-born Abu Zubaydah and Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri.”

“Attacks on Heathrow, Big Ben and Canary Wharf were included in a detailed list of 31 plots Mohammed confessed to during a later hearing at Guantanamo Bay prison – where he remains.”

“He also admitted a role in the 2002 Bali nightclub bombings, an attack on a Kenyan hotel in the same year and the beheading of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in Pakistan.”

However, the UK government has firmly stated that it is against any form of torture methods, and President Barak Obama has also ended the Waterboarding technique. But, then again for the protection of a country how much really are we being told? And can you really trust special security services not to use torture, who are secretly employed to act as the security guards of a country.

Last week it was revealed in the Comprehensive Spending Review that the forces are facing cuts of up to 20 per cent in the lead up to 2014.

The Police Federation have warned officers that up to 20,000 of them could lose their jobs following an inspectorate’s report showed that only four out of 22 authorities are performing to the required standard level, ensuring “value for money.”

This announcement follows the latest figures released from the Home Office that fortunately, crime in England and Wales for 2009/10 is down.

Namely, knife crime, a serious reoccurring problem last year, is down by 7% however public perception is does not reflect the decrease. In fact 66% of people believed that crime was on the increase.

The demonstration came a month ahead of the country’s next parliamentary vote, an election that many students will be eligible to vote in for the first time.

In a bid to be recognised solely as a fully independent educational environment, this news came straight from Egypt’s Supreme Court, following a ruling that a more relaxed civilian unit will replace the Interior Ministry officers.

Security forces have previously been known to manipulate the emergency laws that have been in place for almost thirty years, using them to stay on campus despite courts fighting against their presence since 2008.

The computer giants conducted a global survey across 500 IT Managers and found that 42 per cent felt cloud computing to be extremely risky, 35 per cent demonstrated they found it somewhat risky whilst the remainder disagreed, deeming the software risk free.

Ahead of the new strategy, IBM promises to carry out a rigorous threat assessment of cloud computing to avoid future doubt

Security Chiefs in the United Kingdom have alerted police forces to train for a future “Mumbai-Style” gun attack in public areas. In 2008, Terrorists targeted Mumbai, India’s largest city, killing 173 innocent people and wounding at least 308. The attackers had been planning several months in advance, analysing security and CCTV Surveillance and mapping out the area through Google earth.

Blood tests on the attackers indicate that they had taken cocaine and LSD drugs during the attacks, to sustain their energy and stay awake for 50 hours. Police say that they found syringes on the scenes of the attacks. There were also indications that they had been taking steroids.

It was discovered last month by intelligence sources that they had uncovered the early stages of an al-Qaeda plot to carry out co-ordinated attacks in the UK, France and Germany. A series of counter-terrorism exercises are now being held with police marksmen and units of the SAS training. Security patrols, security officers and security guards have all been put on alert to watch for anything suspicious.

A terrorist attack in the UK remains severe, where it has been since January, meaning a terrorist attack is thought highly likely.

Today the story broke about tetraplegic patient Jamie Merret, who felt so unsafe in his own home; he installed a camera in his bedroom for fear of his carers mistreated him.

What followed only days later was a terrible tragedy, but one that surely could have been avoided. Whilst Violetta Aylward, his NHS approved nurse was checking on him, she accidently switched his life support machine off.

Furthermore, what later came as another astounding shock was that she reportedly wasn’t even trained to be using such machinery, a revelation that was learned when one of the paramedics asked her if she knew what she was doing to which she replied a simple “no.”

Mr Merret has now suffered serious brain damage following the incident which took place in January 2009 and Violetta Aylward has been suspended whilst the inquest continues.
