The security measures aim to connect cameras, already covering shopping malls, schools and busy roads and link them to the police, fire brigade and medical emergency response teams.

William Vedra, of the Ohio Homeland Security Division explains the Camera Integration Project would be viewed by police via the Internet; any time an emergency call comes through and reportedly could help control hostage situations or aid fire-fighters in locating trapped victims.

Vedra says the system would cost Homeland Security $235,000 and would only include cities, schools and businesses who openly volunteer to partake.

Aimed to launch over the next couple of years, the scheme follows the success of ‘Virtual Alabama’, the first state wide camera network created back in July 2006.

Today the story broke about tetraplegic patient Jamie Merret, who felt so unsafe in his own home; he installed a camera in his bedroom for fear of his carers mistreated him.

What followed only days later was a terrible tragedy, but one that surely could have been avoided. Whilst Violetta Aylward, his NHS approved nurse was checking on him, she accidently switched his life support machine off.

Furthermore, what later came as another astounding shock was that she reportedly wasn’t even trained to be using such machinery, a revelation that was learned when one of the paramedics asked her if she knew what she was doing to which she replied a simple “no.”

Mr Merret has now suffered serious brain damage following the incident which took place in January 2009 and Violetta Aylward has been suspended whilst the inquest continues.

Remember back in August when footage was released of a woman throwing an innocent cat in the bin? Well today justice was (albeit, mildly) served in the form of a £250 fine, court costs of over £1,000 and a five year ban of future pet ownership.

Mary Bale, a bank worker from Coventry was caught on CCTV when what started off as a pleasant petting of Lola, a four year old tabby cat, ended with the poor creature being trapped in a wheelie bin for 15 hours.

The 45 year old went on to explain she had no idea why she acted so cruelly that day, issuing a public apology.

On a serious note, CCTV is an important presence in our day to day routines and your security can be seriously increased by using Churchill. We create tailor made decisions based on what you and your company needs, from the installation to managing and maintenance.

Students are kicking up a fuss after Jadavpur University announced their new CCTV plan, although not admitting it, for the sake of Maoist activities. They do admit however, that a recent press conference held by a Maoist leader has led them to consider the extra CCTV operations.

Students at the University however, think that the new system is a complete waste of time and money. The debate is still on and the verdict will have to be decided soon…

Councillors in Llandovery, South Wales, will no doubt be the butt of many a joke in the future after purchasing an expensive CCTV system – which no one knows how to work. The councillors called in a company who promptly installed the CCTV and then left, leaving behind a confusing instruction manual in lieu of detailed instructions. Although the instruction manual has been read over by many of the councillors, no one can figure out how to use the system. The moral to this story? Always use a reputable security company, one who will take the time to demonstrate how to use its products!

If you think that security in airports has gone overboard, then you may be correct. If you’re frequently travelling for business, then the constant security checks and security guards eyeing you up and down can get tedious to say the least.

Luckily for air travellers, Link Microtek is to release the new EMILI 1+ which is a new and revolutionary liquid identification system. So if you’ve ever had to dump your expensive bottle of aftershave in the airport, you’ll really appreciate this new security feature! Less dangerous than an X-ray machine and taking only 1 second, the EMILI 1+ is a godsend to airport security.
