Gvt. Needs to Find UK Security Officers for Olympics – US Steps In

The US Government has voiced its concerns about the current dearth of UK security resources available for the London Olympics, going so far as to offer to provide 1,000 agents itself if preparations remain inadequate.

After repeatedly voicing its concerns over what the US deems a lack of proper security protocol for the games, including the British Government’s inability to implement ‘stop and search’ powers for fear of tarnishing their reputation; the US is preparing to send over 500 FBI agents amongst others to ensure that anti-terrorism measures are properly installed.

Organisers of the games are already exasperated by the degree to which the US is exerting its influence over British preparations, with some worried that the US will leave a significant ‘footprint’ on what ought to be a British run event.

One British security official commented on the situation, stating “We are not equal partners in this…They are being very demanding.”

With the MoD already offering to provide around 5,000 soldiers for the games, and the organising committee claiming that it is unable to pay for extra UK security officers from a leading firm, there appears to be a definite crisis emerging from within the Olympic camp.
